DMCA Act

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 provides recourse for owners of copyright material who believe their property has been illegally reproduced and they provide recourse for such matters. Under this act if material is used against the will of the webmaster he or she may contact the ISP of the website where the infringement has taken place and require them to block that site. A formal complaint must be filed in accordance to the DMCA. If the action taken by the webmaster or ISP against the accused party is counternotified then the ISP ban may be lifted is appropriate.
